Robert D. Anderson (Bob), 87, was welcomed into heaven on March 31, 2015. A resident of West Palm Beach since 1970, he was born in Toronto, Canada, to William John Anderson and Hazel Chamberlain Anderson on July 6th, 1927. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 and trained as a tail gunner during WWII. He said that he joined primarily to get away from the Christian environment experienced at home, but it was a futile move after finding a New Testament his mother had packed in his sea bag. It was at this time he gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ and got involved in the Navigators program. He was married in 1952 to Mary Louise Woll, who he met while attending Wheaton College. They started a Young Life Program in Augusta, Georgia. In 1954, they went to the jungles of Peru, South America, as missionaries. He spent the rest of his life sharing the gospel with others. He served with South America Mission for 16 years in Peru and another 23 years as Assistant Director then Director in the United States.

He was a man who enjoyed life and the outdoors. He made time to have fun with his family, sharing with them a mutual love of tennis, golf, and the conservative Christian values that he passed down as a legacy that will live on through the generations. He loved and served his country, his family, his church, and above all, his God, nobly to the end.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Anderson, and seven children: Barbara Lorenz (David), Robert D. Anderson, Jr. (Tana), Richard Anderson (Lisa), Ronald Anderson (Suzanne), Beverly Woods (James), Randall Anderson (Susan), Brenda Waugh (Mark); twenty-six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother, John Anderson (Muriel); and sister Betty. He was predeceased by his two year old daughter Bonnie Anderson in 1965, and sisters, Jean Anderson and Dorothy Jessup.

The Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Lake Osborne Presbyterian Church, 2101 6th Avenue S., Lake Worth, FL 33461.

All are welcome at the Family and Friends Luncheon in the Fellowship Hall at the church immediately after the service. (No RSVP is necessary to attend the luncheon.)
